Nandi Hills

Nandi town situated at the foot of Nandi Hills. The Bhoganandiswara temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is the chief attraction. Built in the 9th century, the temple is in Dravidian style with a finely sculpted granite gopuram (gateway). The entire range of hills appears a huge garden with orchards and nurseries. Chabootra close to Amrita Sarovar is a concrete platform from where Tipu offered prayers, there also is a lodge built by Tipu Sultan and used as summer residence whenever he visited Nandi Hills. At the foot of the hills there also is a railway station. A flight of 1175 steps from the base takes to the top.

Getting There

KSRTC operates buses from Bangalore to Nandi Hills (60 km) via Chikballapur. The nearest railhead is Nandi town on the Yelahanka-Bangarapet meter gauge.
The nearest airport is Bangalore (68 km).

Conducted Tours

Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation organises one day conducted tours to Nandi Hills and Muddenahalli every day during the season (April - May).
