Cellular Jail
The British had built this Jail to penalise Indian Freedom fighters. This jail consisted of seven wings radiating from a central tower. Today only three remains and is enough to give a fair idea in what condition the detainees were kept. Today the days of detention are over and the Jail has been converted into a national memorial. It has become a major tourist attraction and has been preserved as a shrine to pay homage to those who were executed and killed here while detention.
